About Hangzhou Hiking Guide
Who writes this site, how content is created, and what to expect from the trail guides.
Who Runs This Site
I'm a hiker based in Hangzhou, China. I've spent several years exploring the trails around West Lake, Longjing, Lingyin, and beyond — often helping visiting friends and colleagues figure out where to go, how to get there, and what to expect.
This site is my attempt to put those notes into a form that's useful for other international visitors. I write in English because there are surprisingly few practical, up-to-date English hiking resources for Hangzhou, despite the city having some of the most accessible and rewarding urban-adjacent trails anywhere in China.
Why This Site Exists
Finding reliable English information about hiking in Hangzhou is harder than it should be. Most resources are either outdated blog posts, Chinese-only forum threads, or generic travel listicles that don't give you enough detail to actually plan a hike.
This site aims to fix that — with structured trail guides that include Chinese place names, public transport directions, seasonal notes, safety information, and honest assessments of what each route is really like.
How Content Is Created
Field Notes & Research
Route guides begin as personal hiking notes, field observations, and local research, then structured into a consistent format covering transport, difficulty, seasonal notes, and practical tips.
Editorial Review
Every guide is reviewed, corrected, and fact-checked before publication. I verify route details, transport information, and practical advice to ensure accuracy.
Ongoing Updates
Content is updated as I check routes, as transport information changes, and as readers send corrections or suggestions.
