How to Use This Guide

Each trailhead area below is listed with the fastest metro stop, a connecting bus if needed, an estimated taxi fare, and what to look for when you arrive. Most international visitors stay near the Lakeside area or central Hangzhou — times and costs are from that baseline.

West Lake Area — Baoshi Mountain

Baoshi Mountain is the easiest trailhead to reach. Take metro Line 1 to Longxiangqiao 龙翔桥 station (Exit D, north side), then walk north along the lake for about 10 minutes to Beishan Road 北山路. Alternatively, Line 1 to Wulinmen 武林门 station is a slightly shorter walk to the Baochu Pagoda base.

Bus routes 7, 27, and 51 run along Beishan Road. Get off at the Ge岭 or Baochu Pagoda stop.

A taxi from central Hangzhou to the Baoshi Mountain base costs ¥15–20 and takes about 10–15 minutes. Tell the driver 宝石山 or 保俶塔.

The trail entrance is a set of stone steps on the south side of Beishan Road, directly below Baochu Pagoda. You can see the pagoda from the road — walk toward it.

Longjing Area — Longjing to Nine Creeks

Take metro Line 1 to Ding'an Road 定安路 station (Exit C), then transfer to bus 27 or 87 heading toward Longjing Village. The bus ride takes about 25 minutes through winding tea-country roads. Alight at Longjing Village 龙井村 stop — the trail starts from the village square.

A taxi from central Hangzhou to Longjing Village costs ¥25–35 and takes about 20–25 minutes. Tell the driver 龙井村.

At the finish — Nine Creeks 九溪 — you can take bus 4 or 39 back toward the city center, or call a taxi from the main road. Taxis are usually available within 5–10 minutes.

Pro tip: sit on the left side of the bus for best views of the tea terraces on the way up.

Lingyin Area — Lingyin to North Peak

Take metro Line 1 to Wulinmen 武林门 station (Exit B), then transfer to bus 7 or 407 heading toward Lingyin Temple. The bus ride takes about 20 minutes. Alight at Lingyin Temple 灵隐寺 stop — the trailhead is a short walk past the temple entrance.

At the finish, you have two options for returning: take the cable car from North Peak summit back down to the Lingyin area (¥30–40), or walk back down the trail. From the Lingyin base area, buses and taxis are available.
